Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP)

Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) came into being in 2000 as a result of a split in JD(U). The breakaway faction headed by Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan founded Lok Jan Shakti Party. It has a strong presence in Bihar. In the last General Elections in 2004, it won 4 parliamentary seats from Bihar.

It is member of the ruling UPA alliance at the center.

In the run up to elections 2009, Lok Jan Shakti Party, RJD and INC failed to reach a seat sharing arrangement in Bihar for the forthcoming elections. However, LJNSP joined hands with their archrival RJD for the 15th Lok Sabha elections.

In 2009 General Elections, LJP contested 106 seats and failed to win any of them.

In the run up to the Bihar state assembly elections scheduled this year, LJP has reached an agreement with RJD party to contest the elections together.
